126 van gogh glass squares meticulously soldered (all lead-free) and set in a gunmetal purse frame. Lined with a color shifting silk made in Vietnam. The gussets have grommets and the fabric is attached via jumprings as well as glue. The purse strap/belt was a second-hand find labeled as "vintage from the 80's"! It appears to be anodized aluminum.
Box Dimensions: 7.75 x 4.5 x 1.75"
Belt length: 38"
Part 1 of 5:
A collection that no one asked for, but I was intuitively guided to make. This patchwork purse started an alchemical process within me. I voluntarily went in to witness the collective shadows (in reference to the soul-fragmenting harm of children) and will never be the same. I knew that I needed to make something with my hands in order to stay in my body. I thought I was making glass purses because it would coax me into learning to sew, but later realized the symbolism was a message for me. Fragile finances... fragments that needed reclaiming... and the subsequent beauty and strength that comes from rebuilding.
